Sephora has given Kim Kardashian the boot! I'd say for good reason too. Kim had a deal with Sephora to sell her fragrance exclusively to them, it was in contract. Unfortunately Kim broke her promise, and is now rumoring to be selling her perfume in Target and Macy's. She broke the rules and Sephora kicked her to the curb. Guess she thought they wouldn't notice? haha. I think it's rather silly of her, if she stayed with Sephora she may have gotten a deal to make her own makeup line, that was actually of decent quality, like Kat Von D and Tarina Tarantino did, they were smart cookies. But I guess we'll never know now of the line that never was....
What do you think of Kim's move to Target/ Macy's, good or bad move?

Ugh that's terrible!! Don't they have contracts. If I were Sephora, I'd be filing some sort of lawsuit -whatever she makes/made from selling with other retailers should be split with Sephora.
ReplyDeleteWho knows, perhaps they offered her more money especially with the holidays soon creeping up.
ReplyDeleteI think her perfume sucked, as for the business aspect of it, she and her team of mgrs and marketing ppl seem pretty business savvy maybe there was some part of the contract they misunderstood. But this is a great post and good to know, I had no idea of all this.
ReplyDeletevery bad business move.. how can a business trust her now?
ReplyDeleteYeah perhaps she is making more money like this, but it's bad to make enemies with big companies I feel. So in the long run it may hurt her image.
ReplyDelete@Aggie: I agree her fragrance was just like Marc Jacobs, I'm so not into the floral scent.

I had no idea she had her own perfume, but she probably was offered a better deal and went for it. That's just business and it probably won't hurt her image. As for making enemies, again it's just business and is quite normal so I don't see this as being a big deal. People/businesses break contracts all the time. She must have her reasons or she would not have done that.
ReplyDeleteAfter looking it up online just now, I read a lot of gals think her perfume stinks anyway. So perhaps it's her loss in the deal. Too bad!
honestly, i think the whole kardashian family are money hungry and would do anything to get their name in the spotlight. kim was probably considering the fact that target is world wide whereas sephora isn't.
ReplyDeletei dont think it will hurt her opportunities to do a makeup line of her own. she could easily bank on the fact that her smokey eye and eyeliner look is one of the most popular tutorials on youtube these days.
blah, im so over the whole kardashian craze.
btw - thanks for your comments on my blog. i was so sorry to hear about your sister :(
Damn, I thought she had more business savvy than that =/ though I guess she was offered more money
