I'm addicted to Lip Smack-ers!

I can never go my day without over applying my favorite lip balm, lipsmackers! It's official I am totally obsessed. When I went to Disney World with my boyfriend 2 years ago, I had him carry my lip smackers and gloss in his pocket. Then I would ask for either one, and by the end of the trip he knew the difference between a gloss and a balm. I love all the flavors, but my favorites are skittles and cotton candy. I keep atleast 2 at my boyfriends house, just incase, and 3 on my night stand so I can grab them during a midnight lip craving, and always 2 in my purse at all times. Yeah, I know it's a problem and I need an intervention, but the first step is admitting the problem, so I'm half way there.

What are some of your lip addictions?

Makeup is my art

OMG! Sepora's new blockbuster palette is a must have! The pigment is amazing, and the shadows are now manufactured from Dior. I've been using it for a week straight and have got nothing but compliments. Yesterday I applied a smoky eye on a client with greyish blue eyes and she looked sultry. I used the charcoal colors in the set.

I always suggest applying a primer, my favorite being Urban Decay in Eden. I'm going to continue to use this palette this week and post the pictures of my eyes. I can not wait to play with these colors some more!

Friends get benefits

One of the many luxuries of be-friending a makeup artist besides snatching gratis from her job, is free makeup service whenever you want. I did my friends makeup for her graduation photo today. She said she wanted a "fresh" look. I thought what fresh meant to me might be different for her. To me the definition of fresh is natural colors: corals, baked golds, browns, and a natural enhanced lip. Once she told me she was wearing a coral shirt I knew we were on the same page. So much fun doing makeup for people you know, such a more relaxing setting being in my room and talking about boys and what not.

When I feel like a more natural look I usually apply my bronzer as my eyeshadow and a highlighter by my brow bone. To me I feel more fresh with light hues on. Even light pinks, and oranges are fresh looking on my brown eyes. I feel neutral shades look day time appropriate on all eye colors though. If you're wondering what colors work for your eyes, view my "Eye see Color" blog post below. Natural for me is alot different for most, I still glob on the mascara and always have a thin cat eye.

What can I say I love lashes!

In with the old

Sometimes I wonder if I was born in the wrong generation. I love the makeup fads of the 1940's and 50's. There was such a delicate beauty and a love for faux lashes. Women always had a touch up powder and lipstick for any occasion even just for a visit to the market. This is me, if I left my makeup purse at home my day would be so off. Once, no joke, I left my touch up powder at home so I went to Target with my boyfriend and purchased a temporary solution for the night. If my man had known my reasoning he defintely would have clamied me a nut, but I left out certain details for his ears alone.

When I think of 40's makeup I think of long lashes. I feel strip lashes were more popular back then. Plus 50's liner was so thick and the brows so full. I'm so glad I can be inspired by the past generations and apply them towards my look today. Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Talor and Doris Day. They are all timeless beauties. Lately I've been wearing more hair accesories like flowers, and loving the 40's hair styles.

To get that perfect liner every time, thin or thick, use a liner pen, they are easy to handle, it's like writing. Some pens are can dry up quickly so I suggest: Stila black liner pen or Smashbox pen. If you love using a cream liner product but find most dry out, try MUFE Aqua Black, this cream is heaven sent. You could leave it out over night and it will be fine. I love this liner so much! Apply it with an angled liner brush for a thin into thick line and for cat eye perfection.
When lining your lower lash line, the inside of the eye known as the waterline, use kohl pencils, these will not smudge and stay put through out the day. My choice: MUFE Kohl pencil.

For the perfect lashes see mt first post ever LaLaLashes for my favortie mascaras and faux lash choice.

I may have been born in the 80's but I'm defintely a 50's girl at heart.

Wash Away the day!

We all love to doll our faces up, but removing all that product after a long day can be such a pain. Also with summer coming, and we all seem to want to waterproof everything we apply, this makes removal twice as difficult. Makeup wipes are a quick solution when you're in a lazy mood; however, sensitive skin types like myself, develop blemishes from spreading bacteria and not cleansing. Honestly the best idea is to use makeup wipes to remove eye makeup and cleanse your foundation/face products off. If you're a dry skin type use a milky cleanser, something that doesn't lather to a bubble. If you're oily/combination use a facial cleanser that foams, this will help dry out excess oils.

HUGE TIP: DO NOT USE BAR SOAP ON YOUR FACE, I may just gag thinking about this. Bar soap carries bacteria and is extremely drying, avoid, for it is toxic in my eyes.

My favorite cleanser: Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleanser

Tip: Use warm water when washing face this opens the pores and allows dirt to clean out. When done cleasing, using a sponge soak it in ice cold water and apply all over face, this will close your pores and also de-puff your face and eyes in the morning.

Waterproof cosmetics need to be removed with oily based products. Many people use baby oil, and that does the job.
My choice waterproof makeup remover: Neutrogena eye makeup remover

I mean we all love to lather it on, but lathering it off can take forever, but just don't not take the extra seconds to remove the day, wearing your makeup to sleep will result in the negative when you get older.. yes the unspeakable: WRINKLES! With the right products you'll be on your way to bed in no time!

Face Chart

Face charts are an awesome way to inspire your look without the need of makeup remover. Some times nature or other peoples looks inspire me to try something new. This week at work we found a stack of face charts, and I began to color after others inspired me. Since it is spring, color is all I want to play with lately, and I mean COLOR: Yellows, blues, pinks, if it's bright, I'll wear it!

My first look was the peacock:
Base: Bright yellow
In the crease: light but bright pink
On half my lid: light bright purple
Highlighter: Under the brow bone apply a light shade to brighten.
At the end of my lash line and right on top of the lighter purple to contour apply a darker purple to contour the lighter shade. I used two types of brushes, a blending brush, and an all over shadow brush. Blending is key when using pigmented colors. Also using an eyeshadow primer is important to keep the colors from bleeding.

The blue look:
Base: Light sky blue
On half the lid: tourquoise blue
In the Crease: Light navy blue
At the end of the lash line contouring the light navy apply a dark navy in circular motions with a blending brush.
Highlighter: With a light shade, in the white silver family.

My choice primer: Urban Decay eyeshadow primer in Eden

My choice brushes: Sephora collection Professional line

My choice eyeshadows: Sephora Collection Limited Edition Spring Blockbuster- this item is AMAZING! I used this palette alone to do all these looks. The pigment is great and individual compacts that pop out to take on the go for certain looks. Most of the time buying such a bulk item can be annoying because you can't travel it in your purse. So now you can because it has portable slots. This collectoin is a must have!

I applied the two looks on myself and they came out glamorous! I definitely will be using face charts more often, I missed them.
Some pictures may be downloaded from other sources. This blog is just my opinion. If you choose to use some of the products listed, use with caution.
